Summary:

This is a really nice alphabet board book that introduces ANY child to feminism. We don’t need to be teaching babies and toddlers college-level feminist theory, but we do need to be priming them and building that foundation for critical thinking skill development, vocabulary, and anti-bias anti-racist thinking. Having a wide variety of books on the shelf, especially ones that introduce concepts such as this one, is so crucial for raising kind humans who raise up others.

The illustrations in this book are sweet and engaging, with the illustrations being diverse. I appreciated the wheelchair user playing basketball, rather than engaging in a more passive activity. I know sometimes it can be taxing to read alphabet books, because sometimes the story doesn’t flow together. But this book can open up a variety of discussions with your little feminist! A solid addition to any bookshelf, and remember, board books aren’t just for babies!
