Summary:
If you haven’t checked out this book yet, you’re seriously missing out. Daniela is the pirate captain of a ship named the Black Croc, sailing the high seas helping out folx who have gotten themselves in a pickle. However, they soon get wind of another ship of pirate girls called the Fearless Piranhas that has been doing a whole bunch of rescuing as well! Daniela and her crew set out, hearing tales of the Fearless Piranhas bravery and courage.
This story is really cute, and I love the centering of two pirate girl gangs that are a little miffed at each other. Sometimes we get a little jealous of others that seem to beat us at things, and this is a really cute story for teaching SEL and friendship. The characters are really diverse, and I would be remiss not to mention that one of them kind of looks like me (don’t I WISH I was actually the inspiration)! Overall, this is a really adorable book that exemplifies feminism, friendship, and tough girls who love the outdoors (something we have way too little of)!

About the Author & the Illustrator:

Susanna grew up among mountains in the Spanish Pyrenees. When she was little, her favorite hobby was to run around, discovering incredible insects and helping sick or endangered animals. It was then that animals started to whisper her stories, which she hurried to write in the notebook she always carried with her. She is the author of many children’s books, most of them distributed internationally and translated into over a dozen languages. She has been awarded the Silver Medal in the Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards 2013 in the USA.
